A Talent for Quilting

Lighthouse quilt by Nancy Burns

Fred's sister Nancy is a quilter.
She is a very talented quilter. She puts a lot of thought and care into her designs, personalizing them for their intended home.
Fred and I were so happy to be gifted with one of her creations.
Nancy made us a quilted panel suitable either for hanging or a table cover. It is in a lighthouse theme. She chose a lovely print in watery blues with details in black white and red. It features paintings of many lighthouses, including some that we have visited and climbed. She surrounded the print with a beige and brick red gingham print and a double black border. There is more of the lighthouse print between the two borders.

Nancy skillfully machine quilted in a stipple technique

The entire piece has been skillfully quilted using a "stipple" technique that gives texture to the quilt and makes the lighthouses stand out.
We love it. It suits us and is a perfect addition to our new home on wheels. It is currently on our sideboard as a table runner. We have placed a lighthouse lamp that we use as a nightlight on it.
Thank you Nancy for sharing your talent and your gift. We will treasure it.

Our nightly reminder of a sister's talent and love.
